Ravindra Jadeja and Lokesh Rahul will not be available for the Vizag Test.

Ravindra Jadeja sustained a hamstring injury, while Lokesh Rahul reported quadriceps pain.

In a double setback for India following their defeat in the series opener in Hyderabad, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul have been ruled out of the second Test in Visakhapatnam, scheduled to commence on February 2.

During the fourth day of the Hyderabad fixture, Ravindra Jadeja sustained a hamstring injury while batting. While attempting a quick single in India’s second innings, he was caught short by a direct hit from Ben Stokes, visibly clutching his hamstring during the sprint. Following scans, it has been confirmed that he will not participate in the upcoming game. On the other hand, Rahul reported right quadriceps pain, leading to his absence from the match.

In response to these developments, the selection committee has included Sarfaraz Khan, Saurabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar in the squad for the second Test. All three players were part of the India A side in the ongoing series against England Lions. Sarfaraz Khan joins the squad after a remarkable 160-ball 161 in the second unofficial Test, while Saurabh Kumar played a crucial role in the innings victory, securing a fifer in the second innings.

The updated India squad for the 2nd Test includes: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Avesh Khan, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, Saurabh Kumar.

Saransh Jain from Madhya Pradesh replaces Sundar in the India A squad for the third match starting on February 1 in Ahmedabad. Avesh Khan will continue traveling with his ranji side, Madhya Pradesh, and will join the Test squad if required.
