ENGLAND v/s INDIA, 2024

Day-2 Session-2

India makes a comeback by taking wickets in the second session.

Jasprit Bumrah delivers an early contender for the ball of the series against Ollie Pope.

India fought back with quick wickets in the second session after Zak Crawley’s aggressive innings of 78 off 76 balls threatened to put them on the back foot.

The session started positively for India with Kuldeep Yadav dismissing Ben Duckett, but Crawley’s counterattacking style, including a six and confident drives, posed a challenge.

Axar Patel’s introduction led to Crawley miscuing a big hit, and Jasprit Bumrah, with reverse swing in play, removed Joe Root and Ollie Pope with a yorker.

England lost three wickets for 22 runs before Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes stabilized the innings before Tea.

Earlier in the day, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s maiden Test double century propelled India to 396, with James Anderson’s masterful spell taking crucial wickets.

Jaiswal’s overnight partner, R Ashwin, fell to Anderson’s exceptional delivery.

Despite Jaiswal’s aggressive play against spinners, Anderson’s skillful bowling and patience paid off as Jaiswal eventually fell for 209.

England bowled out India below 400, and in reply, England’s openers, led by Ben Duckett, initially dominated before India made a comeback in the second session.
