In an emphatic display, Nepal sealed a 3-0 whitewash against Canada at the Tribhuvan University Ground on Monday, extending their undefeated streak at their Kirtipur stronghold to 15 consecutive ODIs, alongside two List A internationals.

After narrowly clinching a 9-run victory in the series opener last week, spearheaded by skipper Rohit Paudel’s career-best figures of 4-22, Nepal asserted their dominance throughout the three-match preparatory series.

This sets the stage for their participation in the opening CWC League 2 trilateral series against the Netherlands and Namibia, beginning on Wednesday.

Paudel continued his stellar form in the second match, contributing with two more wickets and top-scoring with 87 runs in Nepal’s successful run chase of a daunting 286-run target.

Anil Sah and Dev Khanal provided crucial support as Nepal equaled their record for the highest successful run chase in ODIs.

In the final game, twin centuries from Sah and Bhim Sharki guided Nepal to a comprehensive victory, sealing the whitewash.

Their unbeaten 189-run partnership for the second wicket also marked a new record for Nepal as they comfortably chased down Canada’s total of 232 with 33 balls to spare.

Nepal’s 15 consecutive victories at Kirtipur now rank as the fourth-longest home winning streak in men’s One Day Internationals, dating back to their last home defeat against the UAE in November 2022.

With just three wins shy of Australia’s record of 18 consecutive home victories in completed ODIs (achieved between 2014 and 2016), Nepal has an opportunity to establish a new benchmark in the upcoming trilateral series against Namibia and the Netherlands.

This series serves as the curtain-raiser for the second edition of CWC League 2, the ICC’s premier Associate’s One-Day competition and a vital component of the qualifying pathway for the 2027 World Cup.
