The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reaffirmed its confidence in Nida Dar by naming her captain of the Pakistan squad for the upcoming Women’s T20 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.

In a 15-member squad featuring several changes, the selectors have included Iram Javed, Omaima Sohail, Syeda Aroob Shah, and Tasmia Rubab.

Players from the recent tour of England who have been left out are Ayesha Zafar, Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar.

Rubab, the left-arm pacer, is the only uncapped player in the squad.

The 22-year-old earned her place based on her performances for the Multan side in the National Women’s One-Day Tournament 2023-24, where she took 12 wickets.

She also claimed four wickets at an economy rate of 6.36 in the National Women’s T20 Tournament 2023-24.

The squad will depart for Sri Lanka on July 16 after completing a training camp that begins on July 5 in Karachi.

They will start their campaign against India on July 19.

Muhammad Wasim will serve as the head coach, supported by Abdur Rehman (spin bowling coach), Junaid Khan (assistant coach – bowling), and Hanif Malik (assistant coach – fielding) during Pakistan’s campaign.
