West Indies scored 269/8 in 50 overs, where as Pakistan scored 156 in 35.5 overs.

So, finally West Indies beat Pakistan by 113 runs.

Hayley Matthews’s unbeaten 140 off 150 balls – the fourth-highest ODI score by a West Indian woman and the highest against Pakistan – paved the way for her team’s commanding 113-run victory in the first ODI at the National Stadium in Karachi, on Thursday.

The West Indian opener elegantly struck 15 boundaries and a six, guiding her side to a formidable total of 269 for 8 after winning the toss and opting to bat.

Matthews forged a crucial 102-run partnership for the second wicket with Shemaine Campbelle (45), setting a solid foundation for the West Indies’ innings.

Despite leggie Tuba Hassan’s double breakthroughs dismissing Campbelle and Stafanie Taylor quickly, Matthews anchored the innings alongside Chedean Nation, Chenille Henry, and Aaliyah Alleyne, all contributing valuable runs.

Pakistan struggled to mount a serious challenge to West Indies’ total, losing wickets in quick succession, starting with the early dismissal of Sidra Ameen – their leading run-scorer in the ongoing ODI Championship cycle – in the second over.

Tuba, who impressed with the ball earlier, top-scored for Pakistan with a brisk 25.

Matthews showcased her all-round prowess by also excelling with the ball, claiming three wickets to dismantle the hosts for 156 in less than 36 overs.
