The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that it will review the new domestic structure being implemented in the upcoming season.

The structure, which includes a break between Ranji league and knockout games, longer gaps between matches in the second phase, and the removal of the toss for the CK Nayudu Under-23 Trophy among other changes, was recommended to the BCCI by NCA Head of Cricket VVS Laxman, Team India’s outgoing head coach Rahul Dravid, and chairman of the Senior Selection Committee Ajit Agarkar.

The review will be based on feedback from the state associations, the BCCI office-bearers informed members of the state associations at a meeting in Mumbai on Monday.

The domestic season kicks off on September 5 with the Duleep Trophy in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, running until September 22.

The multi-day tournament will be followed by the Irani Trophy, likely in Mumbai, from October 1.

The Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy will take place from November 23 to December 15, and the Vijay Hazare 50-over Trophy is scheduled from December 21 to January 18.

The two-phased Ranji Trophy will begin on October 11, with the first phase ending on February 2 and the second phase starting on February 8.

“I am glad that we organized a meeting with the state associations.

It is always good to exchange views on Indian cricket with our key stakeholders—the member state associations.

It was a constructive dialogue on issues that concern Indian cricket, and I am pleased with the contributions from the state associations,” said BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

The state units were also informed that the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, as well as the indoor academies in the North-Eastern states, Patna, and Jammu & Kashmir, are close to completion.

“The new NCA in Bengaluru and the multiple indoor academies in the north-eastern states of the country are extremely close to our hearts.

We are extremely proud of the progress we have seen so far, and today we shared the same with our member associations,” added the BCCI secretary.

Shah also congratulated the state units for their exceptional work during this packed season, which featured the 50-over World Cup, IPL, and WPL, alongside various international bilateral series and a full domestic cricket season.
