A month after dazzling the fervent Super Kings fans with a scintillating hundred in the IPL, Marcus Stoinis is poised to wear the yellow jersey once again, this time for the franchise’s American iteration.

The Australian all-rounder will join forces with fellow WACA player Aaron Hardie, Daryl Mitchell, South African T20 captain Aiden Markram, and Naveen Ul Haq at the Texas Super Kings for the second season of MLC.

Stoinis, set to celebrate his 35th birthday in August, finds himself in Australia’s World Cup squad in the Caribbean but without an Australian central contract for the 2024 season.

Nevertheless, he remains a formidable presence in the T20 circuit, coming off an outstanding IPL season where he amassed close to 400 runs in the middle order across 12 innings, boasting a healthy strike rate of 150.

A host of Australian T20 stalwarts, including Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, and Travis Head, are slated to grace the MLC this year.

Stoinis, in fact, is no stranger to the league, having represented the San Francisco Unicorns last season.

With an influx of top-tier Australian talent, the league finds itself enriched, a prized asset for any successful T20 competition worldwide.

In a noticeable shift in the cricketing landscape, only four Australian players will participate in this year’s The Hundred competition.

Conversely, the MLC will showcase the talents of more than 10 frontline Aussie cricketers.

“Securing the services of a world-class player like Pat Cummins underscores the caliber of talent the league is attracting, emphasizing our global footprint and the triumph of the inaugural season,” remarked MLC CEO Vijay Srinivasan in a media release on Tuesday following the announcement of Cummins’ signing, first reported by Cricpulse on Sunday.

“It raises the standard of competition fans can expect to witness and savor on home soil and underscores our dedication to bringing the world’s premier players to showcase their skills in America’s very own league.”
