TATA IPL 2024: SRH team once again has achieved a highest score of 287 runs against RCB

Travis Head notches the fastest century by an SRH batter, reaching the milestone in a mere 39 balls.

Sun Risers Hyderabad scored 287/3 in 20 overs, where as Royal Challengers Bengaluru scored 262/7 in 20 overs.

So, finally Sun Risers Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 25 runs.

A flurry of records:

Sunrisers Hyderabad achieved their highest-ever IPL score, surpassing their previous 277 against Mumbai Indians earlier in the season.

Travis Head blazed to the fastest century by an SRH batter, reaching the milestone in just 39 balls.

SRH also hammered 22 sixes in total, the most in any IPL innings.

Head’s eight sixes equaled the record for the most by any SRH batter in IPL history.

He had exceptional support from Heinrich Klaasen, who, despite scoring 67, managed to clear the boundary ropes seven times.

A relentless barrage of hitting:

The dominance in sixes encapsulated SRH’s batting ethos.

Opting to bat first, Pat Cummins humorously remarked that 240 was a par total at the Chinnaswamy stadium, but his batters seemed determined to exceed expectations.

Initially, it was Abhishek Sharma who, alongside the dynamic Head, stole the limelight with a blistering 108-run partnership off just 49 balls.

Abhishek matched Head shot for shot as they toyed with RCB’s bowling, unfazed by the changes in the attack.

Klaasen joined the onslaught, taking on Mahipal Lomror’s challenge early on.

Meanwhile, Head dominated the pacers effortlessly, reaching fifty in just 20 balls within the powerplay.

His onslaught continued as he accelerated towards his century with three consecutive fours off Vijaykumar Vyshak, helping SRH surpass 200 in just 15 overs.

No respite for RCB:

Despite numerous changes, RCB couldn’t alter their fortunes as SRH displayed their best performance of the season.

No bowler was spared, with Yash Dayal conceding 69 runs in four overs, marking the second-most expensive spell in IPL history.

Not a single RCB bowler managed an economy rate below 10.70.

Even when it wasn’t Head or Klaasen, Aiden Markram and Abdul Samad piled on 56 runs in the last three overs, propelling SRH to an unprecedented total in IPL history.

A batting paradise:

The pitch, despite its deceptive appearance, proved to be a haven for batsmen.

The slower deliveries were dispatched into the stands effortlessly, leaving bowlers grappling for control from both ends.

Under pressure?

In a batting spectacle, the bowlers found themselves marginalized.

Despite starting with left-arm spin, a traditional weakness for RCB’s openers, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis initiated a brisk opening stand, racing to 80 in just 38 balls.

Though Kohli fell to a Mayank Markande googly and Jacks was run out, du Plessis continued his aggressive approach, reaching a quickfire fifty before encountering setbacks.

A fighting effort:

As RCB found themselves in trouble at 122/5 halfway through, Dinesh Karthik emerged as their savior.

Displaying exquisite footwork and clever angles, he smashed five fours and seven sixes in his 35-ball 83, salvaging some pride for RCB despite their eventual defeat.

What’s on the horizon?

RCB enjoys a five-day hiatus before they head to Kolkata to face the Knight Riders on April 21, while SRH travels to Delhi to clash with the Capitals on April 20.
