Article discussing Shikhar Dhawan's potential absence from TATA IPL 2024 matches due to a shoulder injury.

TATA IPL 2024: Shikhar Dhawan could be sidelined for ‘approximately 7 to 10 days’.

Dhawan was absent from the game against Rajasthan Royals due to a shoulder injury.

Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan is expected to miss a couple more games in IPL 2024 due to a shoulder injury.

Dhawan was sidelined for Punjab’s recent match against table-toppers Rajasthan Royals due to shoulder trouble.

Sanjay Bangar, Head of Cricket Development at Kings, stated that Dhawan is likely to be out for the next “seven to 10 days.”

“We missed having Shikhar [tonight] due to a shoulder injury.

So, he’s likely to be out for a couple of games,” Bangar said.

“We’ll have to wait and see how he responds to treatment, but it seems he could be out for at least seven to 10 days.”

During Dhawan’s absence, England allrounder Sam Curran led PBKS in the closely contested match against RR, which they lost by three wickets off the penultimate ball.

Confusion arose regarding the vice-captaincy when Curran led the team for the toss against RR.

Jitesh Sharma had filled in for an ill Dhawan at the pre-season captains’ briefing, but Bangar clarified that Jitesh was never officially the team’s designated vice-captain.

The management had previously decided on Curran to step in if needed.

In IPL 2023, Curran had led PBKS in three games when Dhawan was briefly ruled out due to injury.

Bangar mentioned that continuity was sought, and Curran was designated as the stand-in captain since the previous edition.

Despite a lackluster performance with the bat, Curran made crucial contributions with the ball, finishing with figures of 4-0-25-2 in PBKS’ defense of 147 runs.

Currently, Punjab Kings are placed eighth in the ten-team table, with four wins in six matches.
