Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has been handed a one-match suspension and fined INR 30 Lakh for his team’s slow over-rate in the game against Rajasthan Royals on May 7.
DC were 10 minutes behind schedule at the start of the final over in that game.
The suspension and the hefty fine come as this was DC’s third such offense this season.
The rest of the DC players, including the impact substitute, have been fined INR 12 Lakh or 50% of their match fee, whichever is lesser.
DC filed an appeal challenging this ruling of the match referee, which was referred to the BCCI Ombudsman for review.
The Ombudsman conducted a virtual hearing and stated that the decision of the match referee is final and binding.
As a consequence, Pant will miss the crucial Sunday (May 12) evening fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Bangalore, with DC still alive in the race to make playoffs.
Axar Patel will lead the team in this fixture.
