Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans, also with 8 points, descended to ninth due to a poorer net run-rate.

Gujarat struggled, conceding 92 runs while losing three wickets in the period.

Conditions favored RCB initially, particularly aiding their pacers.

Powerplay (1-6) – GT: 23/3 (2x4s)

Mohammed Siraj orchestrated a bowling turnaround during the power play, benefiting Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

With a distinct green patch on the pitch, the pacers found assistance, stifling Gujarat’s openers.

Wriddhiman Saha’s dismissal, edging Siraj to the ‘keeper, favored Siraj once again.

Despite attempts by Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan to stabilize, both fell while seeking quick runs, leaving Gujarat in a precarious position.

Middle Overs Frustration

Middle overs (9 to 15) – GT: 79/2 (7x4s, 4x6s)

The left-right combination of Gujarat’s middle order lifted the scoring rate, challenging the bowlers.

Short of length deliveries troubled the batters initially, but the introduction of spin provided some relief.

Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli set the stage ablaze, with Kohli’s massive six setting the tone.

Du Plessis’s blitzkrieg fifty, the second-fastest by an RCB batter, propelled RCB to 64 runs inside the power play.

Despite Joshua Little’s efforts, Du Plessis’s onslaught laid the foundation for RCB’s highest-ever power play score.

Middle Overs Turmoil

Following du Plessis’s dismissal, RCB faced a dramatic downturn, losing wickets in quick succession.

Rajat Patidar, Will Jacks, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green fell cheaply, with Little wreaking havoc.

However, Dinesh Karthik’s confident stroke play, particularly his sweeps and reverse sweeps against Rashid Khan, steered RCB towards victory, securing their third consecutive win in IPL 2024.
