TATA IPL 2024: Mustafizur Rahman will be available for the CSK-PBKS fixture on May 1

Mustafizur Rahman has taken 10 wickets in just 5 games for CSK thus far.

Bangladesh pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman will be extending his stay with the Chennai Super Kings, making him available for their clash against Punjab Kings on May 1, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board has granted him an additional day’s leave for the ongoing Indian Premier League.

Mustafizur, who has had a stellar start with CSK, securing 10 wickets in 5 matches, was initially permitted to participate until April 30.

However, the board has now sanctioned his presence for one more game, allowing him to feature in the May 1 fixture for his franchise.

“Mustafizur was originally slated to return after April 30, but we have extended his stay for their match on May 1st.

He is anticipated to join the T20 series against Zimbabwe from May 3 to 12, with his arrival expected on May 2.

Subsequently, we are unwilling to release him as we intend to provide him with rest ahead of the World Cup,” confirmed a BCB official to Cricpulse on Monday.

Bangladesh is set to compete in a three-match T20I series against the USA from May 21-25, aiming to familiarize themselves with the conditions there, as two of their four group stage games at the upcoming World Cup are scheduled in the United States.

Bangladesh has previously played only two T20Is in the USA, facing West Indies in Florida in 2018.
