TATA IPL 2024: Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma has played a brilliant knock to help SRH to win another game against LSG

Head and Abhishek forge a formidable partnership, amassing 167 runs in just 9.4 overs – marking the highest total within the first ten overs in IPL history.

Lucknow Super Giants scored 165/4 in 20 overs, where as Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 167 for no loss in 9.4 overs.

So, finally Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Lucknow Super Giants by 10 wickets.

Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma ignited a fiery blaze that engulfed Lucknow Super Giants as Sunrisers Hyderabad delivered a resounding defeat in a lopsided battle held in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Their scintillating partnership propelled the team to effortlessly chase down 166 runs with a staggering 62 balls remaining, significantly boosting their Net Run Rate and propelling them to the third position on the points table.

Dominating the crease, the duo mercilessly dispatched 30 of the 58 balls they faced to the boundary, sealing a remarkable 10-wicket triumph for their team.

The stark contrast was evident in the power play, where an 80-run chasm separated the two teams.

SRH unleashed an onslaught, smashing eight sixes during this period, twice the tally of what LSG managed throughout their innings.

Spearheaded by Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s stellar bowling, SRH seized momentum early on, and with the bat, they ruthlessly stamped out any hopes of a comeback during this crucial phase of the match.

Lucknow Super Giants

Power play: LSG Top Order Locked in Struggle

LSG: 27/2 (RR: 4.50, 0x4s, 1x6s)

Under the masterful spell of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, skillfully supported by Shahbaz Ahmed, SRH efficiently contained LSG to their lowest-ever power play score.

The top-order batsmen grappled with timing issues, failing to establish a rhythm, and losing two vital wickets – Quinton de Kock and Marcus Stoinis – within this phase.

Middle Overs: LSG Stumble but Mount a Fightback

LSG: 75/2 (RR: 8.22, 6x4s, 3x6s)

Krunal Pandya’s onslaught against Jaydev Unadkat, featuring two towering sixes, injected some much-needed momentum into LSG’s innings.

However, lack of substantial support from the other end hindered their progress.

Rahul fell to T Natarajan at long leg, and shortly after, Krunal himself was run out while pushing for a quick single.

Unlike Bhuvneshwar’s precision, the other bowlers lacked bite, as Cummins tactfully utilized his resources, denying LSG the flourish they sought.

Death Overs: Badoni, Pooran Propel LSG to Respectability

LSG: 63/0 (RR: 12.60, 10x4s, 0x6s)

Badoni and Pooran accelerated in the death overs, countering SRH’s strategy of delivering slower balls on harder lengths by targeting the shorter boundary.

Despite failing to clear the ropes, including the last shot fiercely defended by Nitish Reddy at sweeper cover, Badoni showcased unconventional strokes, speeding to his fastest IPL half-century.

Alongside Pooran, they forged a 99-run partnership, guiding LSG to a commendable total.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Power play: Head, Abhishek Unleash Fury on LSG

SRH: 107/0 (RR: 17.83, 13x4s, 8x6s)

Initially, SRH crept along at a modest pace, but Abhishek Sharma’s explosive batting soon altered the landscape.

Exploiting Yash Thakur’s wayward line and with Travis Head’s steady support, LSG’s plans unraveled.

K Gowtham, who started well, faltered in his second over, conceding three sixes and a boundary.

The duo’s onslaught saw them amass 99 runs in the next 28 balls, sealing LSG’s fate.

Head, leading the charge, blazed to his joint-fastest half-century in just 16 balls – his fourth such feat within the power play this season, a record in IPL history.

Middle: The Blitz Continues

SRH: 60/0 in 3.4 overs (RR: 17.65, 3x4s, 6x6s)

Travis Head initiated the middle overs with a towering six, and Abhishek Sharma sealed the chase with another.

The left-handed duo relentlessly attacked, turning the game into a relentless six-fest.

SRH notched the highest-ever score within the first 10 overs in IPL history (playing two balls fewer).

Badoni’s off-breaks were plundered for 19 runs, Ravi Bishnoi conceded 17, and despite Naveen ul Haq’s effective slower deliveries, he couldn’t stem the flow, as SRH raced to victory in just 58 balls.

With this emphatic win, SRH not only bolstered their Net Run Rate but also eliminated Mumbai Indians from the qualification race.
