TATA IPL 2024: Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel has helped RR to win a game against LSG and took RR to the qualification

Samson and Jurel combine forces in an unbeaten 121-run partnership off just 62 balls to secure victory for RR.

Lucknow Super Giants scored 196/5 in 20 overs, where as Rajasthan Royals scored 199/3 in 19 overs.

So, finally Rajasthan Royals beat Lucknow Super Giants by 7 wickets.

Led by unbeaten half-centuries from Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel, Rajasthan Royals extended their dominance in IPL 2024 with an eighth win out of nine games.

The dynamic duo forged an unbroken 121-run partnership for the fourth wicket, steering Royals to a commanding seven-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow, chasing down the target with an over to spare.

With this triumph, the table-topping Royals surged ahead with a six-point lead over their closest competitors.

Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants, despite being in the top four, find themselves only marginally ahead of Delhi Capitals in terms of Net Run Rate.

The contrast in the match was stark.

While Lucknow Super Giants failed to capitalize on the century partnership between KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda, posting a total of 196 for 5, which Captain Rahul conceded was at least 20 runs short, Rajasthan Royals showcased consistent acceleration throughout their innings.

LSG struggled to maintain momentum in both the powerplay and death overs, managing only two boundaries in the last five overs.

Interestingly, six-hitting was sparse for LSG, with Rahul accounting for the only two maximums for the team.

In contrast, Rajasthan Royals cleared the ropes on nine occasions, highlighting their superior batting prowess.

Powerplay: RR Strike Early

LSG: 46/2 [RR: 9.67; 4s/6s: 8/0]

Rajasthan Royals asserted their dominance early in the game as Trent Boult and Sandeep Sharma made crucial break throughs with the swinging ball, dismantling the stumps of Quinton de Kock and Marcus Stoinis.

Despite KL Rahul’s efforts to stabilize LSG, not a single six was struck in what proved to be a relatively subdued powerplay.

Middle Overs: Rahul, Hooda Century Stand Revives LSG

LSG: 104/1 [RR: 11.55; 4s/6s: 10/2]

Following the early setbacks, KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda orchestrated a remarkable recovery for LSG with a magnificent 115-run partnership for the third wicket.

Displaying finesse over brute force, the duo maintained a brisk scoring rate through the middle overs.

Despite Yuzvendra Chahal’s wicketless spell, Hooda fell victim to R Ashwin after notching up a well-deserved half-century.

Death Overs: LSG Fail to Get the Late Flourish

LSG: 46/2 [RR: 9.20; 4s/6s: 2/0]

Despite a promising foundation, LSG faltered in the death overs, failing to capitalize on their strong start.

With the pitch offering some resistance and the boundaries proving elusive, LSG struggled to inject momentum into their innings.

Both KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran fell without making significant contributions during this crucial phase.

Although Krunal Pandya and Ayush Badoni attempted to inject some impetus with a brief partnership, they could only manage to add 23 runs off 16 balls.

Rajasthan Royals

Powerplay: Openers Depart After Quick Start

RR: 60/1 [RR: 10.00; 4s/6s: 7/2]

Rajasthan Royals’ chase began with a flourish as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler launched a blistering assault on the Lucknow Super Giants’ bowlers.

Jaiswal’s aggressive start, including a six and a four off Matt Henry’s first over, set the tone for the innings.

However, the dismissals of both openers within a short span left the match finely poised.

Middle Overs: Samson Shepherds the Chase in the Middle

RR: 84/2 [RR: 9.33; 4s/6s: 8/3]

Following the powerplay, Rajasthan Royals faced some resistance in scoring, with Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, and later Dhruv Jurel taking time to settle into their innings.

However, Samson’s onslaught against Amit Mishra in the 11th over shifted the momentum in Royals’ favor.

Jurel also capitalized on opportunities against Yash Thakur and Mohsin Khan, though he was fortunate to survive a couple of dropped catches.

Death Overs: Bairstow Takes Over the Charge

RR: 55/0 in 4 overs [RR: 13.75; 4s/6s: 4/4]

As the match approached its climax, Samson and Jurel effortlessly guided Rajasthan Royals to victory with an over to spare.

Both batsmen reached their respective half-centuries during an unbeaten 121-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Samson, who had played a supporting role earlier, unleashed an onslaught on Ravi Bishnoi in the 16th over, paving the way for a comfortable win.

Thakur and Mohsin were also subjected to punishment in the closing stages of the match.
