Lucknow Super Giants scored 163/5 in 20 overs, where as Gujarat Titans scored 130 in 18.5 overs.

So, finally Lucknow Super Giants beat Gujarat Titans by 33 runs.

Umesh Yadav Rocks Lucknow Super Giants

On a challenging two-paced pitch, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) encountered early setbacks, losing two crucial top-order wickets within the powerplay after winning the toss.

Umesh Yadav spearheaded the attack during the powerplay, dismissing Quinton de Kock caught in the deep and narrowly missing out on Devdutt Padikkal’s wicket.

However, he swiftly made amends by inducing an edge from Padikkal, caught at slip by Vijay Shankar.

With LSG at 18/2, they faced an uphill battle ahead.

Rahul and Stoinis Steady the Ship

Faced with a tricky pitch, LSG opted for a more cautious approach, focusing on building a partnership rather than aggressive stroke-making.

KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis navigated through the middle overs meticulously, rotating the strike and accumulating runs.

The duo constructed a valuable 73-run partnership in 62 balls, aiming to set a foundation for a late-innings surge.

However, their plans hit a roadblock as Rahul perished while attempting to accelerate, skying a catch to long on off Darshan Nalkande.

Nalkande struck again in his subsequent over, dismissing Stoinis, who had reached a fifty, further denting LSG’s progress.

Pooran’s Heroics in the Death Overs

Entering the final overs, LSG required a substantial push to post a competitive total.

Nicholas Pooran rose to the occasion, showcasing his prowess with a brisk 22-ball 32, including three towering sixes.

Pooran’s exploits propelled LSG to gather 49 runs in the last five overs, ensuring they reached a formidable total despite the challenging conditions.

Gujarat’s Promising Start Fizzles Out

Gujarat Titans enjoyed a blazing start to their chase, courtesy of Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, who amassed 54 runs within the powerplay.

However, Sudharsan’s departure, bowled by Yash Thakur off the final ball of the powerplay, provided LSG with a breakthrough.

Krunal Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi then seized control during the middle overs, picking off crucial wickets at regular intervals and stifling Gujarat’s momentum.

Thakur’s Heroics Seal the Victory

Despite a spirited effort from Gujarat’s lower middle-order, Yash Thakur delivered the decisive blows, claiming a double-wicket maiden.

Thakur’s exceptional spell culminated in a five-wicket haul, ensuring LSG emerged victorious, securing their third win in four games this season.

What’s Next?

Gujarat Titans will travel to Jaipur to face the undefeated Rajasthan Royals on April 10, while Lucknow Super Giants will enjoy a four-day break before clashing with the Delhi Capitals on April 12.
