Jake Fraser-McGurk celebrating his IPL debut with a powerful batting performance against Lucknow Super Giants.

TATA IPL 2024: Jake Fraser-McGurk has played an important role for DC to secure a victory against LSG

Jake Fraser-McGurk made an impressive debut, scoring 55 runs off just 35 balls.

Lucknow Super Giants scored 167/7 in 20 overs, where as Delhi Capitals scored 170/4 in 18.1 overs.

So, finally Delhi Capitals beat Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets.

Jake Fraser-McGurk made a resounding entry into the IPL, showcasing his prowess with a brisk 55 off 35 deliveries, including 3 fours and 5 sixes, as Delhi Capitals dealt Lucknow Super Giants their maiden defeat in the IPL.

Despite Lucknow posting a total of over 160, the DC bowlers, led by Kuldeep Yadav, dismantled LSG’s top-order early on, only to witness Ayush Badoni’s spirited counterattack.

LSG’s final score of 167/7, despite losing their first seven wickets for under 100, became the highest total in IPL history under such circumstances, but it proved futile in the end.

Left-arm dominance for DC

Delhi Capitals, despite their lower standing in the points table, found joy in the left-arm match-up, particularly with Khaleel Ahmed’s exceptional bowling performance.

Khaleel’s crucial LBW dismissal of Quinton de Kock set the tone, followed by another scalp of Devdutt Padikkal.

This strategic advantage worked well for DC, as it marked the fourth time de Kock fell to a left-arm pacer and the third for Padikkal.

Kuldeep’s wizardry post-PowerPlay

Kuldeep Yadav, the left-arm wrist spinner, showcased his skill by dismissing key LSG batsmen, including Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, and KL Rahul.

His crafty bowling restricted LSG’s progress, leading them to regress from 80 for 5 in 10 overs to a precarious 94 for 7 in 13 overs.

Badoni’s heroic effort

Ayush Badoni emerged as the savior for LSG, steering their innings with an unbeaten 55 off 35 balls.

Partnering with Arshad Khan, Badoni constructed a crucial eighth-wicket partnership worth 73 runs in the final seven overs.

Despite Kuldeep’s impressive bowling figures of 3 for 20, Badoni’s onslaught in the death overs propelled LSG’s total.

Fraser-McGurk’s IPL debut fireworks

In the chase, Jake Fraser-McGurk, on his IPL debut, showcased his batting prowess alongside Prithvi Shaw, propelling DC to a solid start.

Despite a brief period of slowdown, Rishabh Pant’s aggressive batting and Fraser-McGurk’s explosive hitting, including three consecutive sixes off Krunal Pandya, steered DC towards victory.

Late resistance from LSG?

Not enough.

Despite a brief resurgence with two quick wickets, DC comfortably chased down the target with Shai Hope and Tristan Stubbs guiding them to victory with 20 runs required off 27 balls.

What’s on the horizon?

With only a day’s breather, Lucknow Super Giants gear up for a swift journey to Kolkata, where they face off against KKR in an afternoon clash on Sunday (April 14).

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals set their sights on Ahmedabad, where they’ll lock horns with Shubman Gill’s squad on Friday (April 17).
