KL Rahul set to join LSG within two days; Pat Cummins to reunite with SRH teammates on Tuesday.

TATA IPL 2024: KL Rahul is set to join LSG within the next two days.

Rahul is poised to make his mark in the T20I squad.

KL Rahul, currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, is slated to join his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise within the next two or three days.

The skipper of the Lucknow Super Giants team, who has been sidelined from cricket since the first Test against England in January, has been given the green light to participate in the IPL.

According to a franchise source, “He will be very much available from the first game of the season.”

Initially scheduled to depart for Lucknow on March 20, Rahul’s plans might be adjusted due to the pre-IPL Captains Conclave in Chennai on March 21.

Consequently, he may link up with his teammates a day later.

LSG’s inaugural match is against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on March 24, while the IPL commences on March 22.

As previously reported, Rahul aims to utilize the IPL as a platform to stage his comeback into Twenty20 Internationals.

Renowned for his expertise as an opener, Rahul is set to play in the middle order and will also undertake wicketkeeping duties during the IPL.

“He will be keeping wickets from the first game itself to stake his claim in the India team for the Twenty20 World Cup,” disclosed a source familiar with the situation.

Having sought consultation from an expert in London last month for persistent quadriceps pain, Rahul received clearance from the NCA on Monday after proving his fitness by participating in a match.

Pat Cummins is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday.

It has been revealed that Pat Cummins, a Rs 20.5 Crore acquisition by the SunRisers Hyderabad, will be reuniting with his teammates in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Despite the SRH team already undergoing a camp in Hyderabad for the past few days, Cummins, who has been appointed captain of the side, has obtained permission from the management to join the squad slightly later.

Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc, Cummins’s compatriot and teammate for Australia, has commenced training with the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Additionally, in Bengaluru, Virat Kohli, who missed the five-Test home series against England this winter due to the birth of his second child, has joined his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammates on Monday.
