Kolkata Knight Riders

Powerplay: Narine, Salt ignite the fireworks

KKR: 70/1 (RR: 11.67, 11x4s, 2x6s)

Phil Salt and Sunil Narine continued their scintillating form at the top, propelling KKR to another explosive start.

While Salt kick started with a fortunate boundary off the first ball, Narine unleashed his fury against Naveen ul Haq in the third over.

Opting for boundaries over sixes, the duo amassed a blistering 61 runs in just 25 balls before Salt departed.

Despite Yash Thakur’s economical first over, KKR set a new record for the most runs scored against LSG this season in the power play.

Middle: Narine’s onslaught meets resistance

KKR: 101/2 (RR: 11.22, 4x4s, 8x6s)

Once the field restrictions eased, Narine embarked on a savage onslaught, taking on the short deliveries with gusto.

The highlight came against Marcus Stoinis, whom he punished with three sixes in four balls during the 11th over.

While Angkrish Raghuvanshi chipped in briefly, rotating the strike to allow Narine to unleash, luck favored the left-hander with a couple of missed chances.

Despite a brief cameo from Andre Russell, KKR’s momentum was momentarily stalled with Narine’s dismissal to Ravi Bishnoi’s deceptive delivery.

Death: Ramandeep’s late fireworks

KKR: 64/3 (RR: 12.80, 6x4s, 3x6s)

During the death overs, KKR struggled to find the acceleration they desired.

Raghuvanshi departed after a promising start, but Rinku Singh and Shreyas Iyer struggled to capitalize on slower deliveries.

However, Ramandeep Singh’s explosive cameo, comprising three sixes and a four in a six-ball blitz, propelled KKR to their highest T20 total at the venue.

Lucknow Super Giants

Power play: Stoinis leads the charge

LSG: 55/1 (RR: 9.17, 7x4s, 2x6s)

In pursuit of a daunting target, LSG opted for an aggressive approach early on, with KL Rahul setting the tone with a boundary off the first ball.

Despite an early setback with Arshin Kulkarni’s dismissal, LSG maintained their attacking intent.

Stoinis’s aggressive stroke play, including three boundaries off four balls from Mitchell Starc and a six off Harshit Rana, ensured LSG’s most productive power play of the season.

Middle: LSG collapse under pressure

LSG: 60/7 (RR: 6.67, 3x4s, 4x6s)

The middle overs witnessed a catastrophic collapse for LSG.

After Rahul’s departure, the wickets tumbled incessantly, with Deepak Hooda, Andre Russell, Marcus Stoinis, and Nicholas Pooran falling in quick succession.

Narine and Varun Chakravarthy further deepened LSG’s woes by dismissing Ayush Badoni and Ashton Turner, respectively.

LSG’s efforts to regain momentum were futile, leading to a dire situation.

Death overs: KKR seal the deal

LSG: 7/2 in 1.1 overs (RR: 6.00, 0x4s, 1x6s)

With victory imminent for KKR, their bowlers swiftly wrapped up LSG’s innings.

Despite a DRS review by Ravi Bishnoi, LSG’s resistance crumbled rapidly, as they capitulated within 3.5 overs.
