TATA IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals are poised to be without Mitchell Marsh for the rest of IPL 2024.

Marsh is currently sidelined due to injury, but there are hopes for his recovery in time for the World Cup, where he is anticipated to lead the 2021 champions.

Delhi Capitals are set to be without all-rounder Mitchell Marsh for the remainder of IPL 2024, as Cricket Australia prioritizes his recovery and rehabilitation ahead of the T20 World Cup in June.

Marsh participated in the first four games of the season for the Capitals before sustaining a hamstring injury.

He returned to Australia on April 7 following the team’s match against the Mumbai Indians, with uncertainty surrounding his availability for the rest of the season.

Head coach Ricky Ponting later confirmed Marsh’s probable absence for the second half of the season.

Nevertheless, Marsh is expected to be fit for the World Cup, where he is likely to captain the 2021 champions.

“I don’t think he’ll be coming back,” Ponting stated.

“There’s a certain cut off point with replacement players.

Cricket Australia were keen to have him at home to start his recovery process, and we sent him back as soon as we could.”

“They’ve been managing his rehab for a couple of weeks now.

I spoke to him the other day, and it seems it’s taken a little longer than he first thought to get over it.

I don’t think the T20 World Cup would be an issue.”

The 32-year-old has grappled with injury concerns throughout his career.

Despite being signed for INR 6.5 crores at the 2022 mega auction, Marsh has only featured in 21 games for the franchise over three seasons.

Despite his limited appearances, Marsh remains a key figure, having played a crucial role in Australia’s only men’s T20 World Cup triumph.

With 440 runs at an average of 20.95 and a strike-rate of 135.80, along with 17 wickets, Marsh has made significant contributions to the Delhi franchise over the years.
