Jack Fraser-McGurk blazed his way to 87 runs off just 27 balls, joining an elite group of only three players to boast a strike rate of over 300 after facing 20 or more balls in an IPL innings.

His extraordinary performance propelled Delhi Capitals to a commanding total in a high-scoring encounter against Mumbai Indians, with the match aggregate exceeding 500 runs yet again.

Despite Delhi Capitals posting a formidable 257 runs, the match remained tense until the end, with Rasikh Dar’s excellent bowling display (3 for 34) crucial in securing a narrow 10-run victory.

After a shaky start to the season, having lost four of their first five games, Delhi Capitals have staged a remarkable turnaround, winning four of their last five matches and putting themselves firmly back in contention for the playoffs.

The game was ultimately won in the Power Play, where Delhi Capitals dominated by reaching 92/0, while Mumbai Indians struggled and could only manage 65/3.

This early advantage set the tone for the match, leaving Mumbai Indians with too much to chase in the latter stages of the game.

Delhi Capitals’ Power Play saw Fraser-McGurk mercilessly taking on every bowler, including the formidable Bumrah.

DC raced to 92/0 [RR: 15.33, 4s/6s: 12/5] in the first six overs, painting a picture reminiscent of highlight reels from earlier matches this season.

Fraser-McGurk’s blazing start, particularly against Luke Wood, set the tone.

Even the usually frugal Bumrah couldn’t escape the onslaught, conceding an expensive 18-run over, courtesy of the 22-year-old’s audacious stroke play.

Fraser-McGurk’s innings was marked by effortless stroke play, standing tall at the crease and dispatching deliveries to all parts of the ground.

His whirlwind 78 off just 24 balls, including 11 boundaries and 5 towering sixes, equaled his own record for the fastest fifty of the season in a breathtaking display of power-hitting.

Meanwhile, his opening partner, Abhishek Porel, struggled to find momentum, highlighting the contrast in approaches.

As the game progressed into the middle overs, spinners struck for Mumbai Indians, momentarily slowing DC’s momentum.

However, Shai Hope’s aggressive cameo, punctuated by authoritative hits over the boundary, ensured that DC remained competitive.

In the death overs, Tristan Stubbs took center stage, dismantling Luke Wood’s bowling with a flurry of boundaries.

His innovative stroke play, including audacious scoops and reverse-scoops, propelled DC to a formidable total of 67 runs in the final overs.

Despite the onslaught, Bumrah managed to restrict the damage, finishing with figures of 1 for 35 from his four overs.

Mumbai Indians’ innings began with early setbacks, as the pitch started playing tricks, and DC’s bowlers capitalized on the conditions.

Despite a promising start from Ishan Kishan and Surya Kumar Yadav, MI found themselves three down at the end of the Power Play, struggling to keep up with the required run rate.

During the middle overs, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma mounted a spirited fightback against DC’s spinners, amassing crucial runs to keep MI in the hunt.

However, Rasikh Dar’s remarkable spell turned the tide in DC’s favor, as he applied the brakes with disciplined bowling, ultimately restricting MI’s charge.

In the death overs, Tilak and Tim David staged a late assault, but Rasikh Dar’s exceptional performance ensured that MI fell agonizingly short of the target.

His three crucial wickets and economical bowling proved decisive in securing victory for Delhi Capitals.
