Corey Anderson in USA T20 World Cup 2024 squad announcement.

T20 World Cup 2024: The USA has selected Corey Anderson for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Corey Anderson has previously participated in World Cups while representing New Zealand.

Former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson has been named in the USA’s 15-man squad for the upcoming men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and the Caribbean.

Anderson is poised to resume his journey in ICC events after playing a pivotal role for the Kiwis in three previous World Cups, notably shining in the 50-over event held in New Zealand in 2015.

Shayan Jahangir has earned a recall just in time for USA’s historic debut World Cup appearance.

The assertive wicket-keeper batter replaces Gajanand Singh in the squad.

Despite being the leading run-scorer at the World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe, Jahangir was surprisingly omitted for the Canada T20 series, USA’s last international assignment before a lengthy hiatus.

Gajanand, however, may feel aggrieved after being dropped based on his underwhelming performances in the Canada series, managing scores of 1* and 0.

USA’s key player, Ali Khan, makes a comeback after a prolonged injury layoff, which forced him to miss both the national T20 and the Canada series.

Ali replaces off-spinner Usman Rafiq, who featured in only one game during the Canada series, conceding 24 runs in 2 overs.

Monank Patel and Aaron Jones, pivotal figures in USA’s batting lineup, retain their leadership roles as captain and vice-captain respectively.

Former Canada captain Nitish Kumar secures yet another spot in a global tournament, thanks to his resilient 64-run knock in the Canada series, rescuing USA from a precarious situation.

Nitish made his international debut for Canada as a 17-year-old during the 2011 ODI World Cup in the subcontinent.

The USA squad’s batting options are further bolstered by Andries Gous, Steven Taylor, and former Delhi and RCB batter Milind Kumar.

Ali Khan will lead the USA pace attack alongside the experienced trio of Saurabh Netravalkar, Jessy Singh, and Shadley Van Schalkwyk.

The USA selectors have maintained their strategy of deploying a three-pronged left-arm spin attack, with the inclusion of former Mumbai and India U19 spinner Harmeet Singh, along with Nosthush Kenjige and Nisarg Patel.

USA is gearing up for their World Cup preparations with a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, commencing on May 21.
