Sandeep Lamichhane is set to join the Nepal World Cup squad for the Caribbean leg of their campaign after missing their first two matches in the USA.

The former Nepal captain’s previous legal troubles, including an overturned rape conviction, led to visa issues, despite efforts from the Cricket Association of Nepal and government agencies.

As a result, Nepal played without their star legspinner in their loss to the Netherlands in Dallas last week, and will also be without him for their upcoming match against Sri Lanka in Florida.

However, Lamichhane will be available for Nepal’s final two matches against South Africa and Bangladesh in Kingstown, St Vincent.

Although Lamichhane’s name was not publicly announced in the squad list, he was included in the final squad submitted to the ICC.

Traveling reserve Patish GC was initially listed among the 15 players.

Lamichhane, who has experience in the Caribbean from his time in the CPL, has been training regularly in Kathmandu since being cleared.

In a statement on social media, he expressed gratitude to various Nepali government bodies and CAN for their support.

Lamichhane also addressed criticism of CAN officials in his statement.

CAN confirmed Lamichhane’s inclusion in their own statement, emphasizing the importance of Nepali cricket fans’ support for the team’s participation in the T20 World Cup after a decade-long absence.
