The triumphant Indian team, back home after enduring a two-day ordeal due to Hurricane Beryl in Barbados, will have a packed schedule on Thursday (July 4) before enjoying a free evening.

BCCI has organized a series of events for the Rohit Sharma-led side, starting with an audience with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and later a road show in Mumbai.

The team arrived in the national capital on Thursday morning.

According to BCCI officials, the victorious team will check into the ITC Maurya Hotel in Central Delhi and then proceed directly to the Prime Minister’s residence, a short 10-minute drive away.

The meeting with Modi will be split into two sessions, beginning at 9:30 am, first with the players followed by the support staff.

Afterward, the players will fly to Mumbai in the afternoon on a charter flight.

Upon arrival in Mumbai, they will participate in a victory march through the streets of South Bombay in the evening.

The tentative plan for the road show will commence at the Air India Building in iconic Nariman Point and conclude with a gathering at the Wankhede Stadium, where the team will be honored by the BCCI.

Following their World Cup victory over South Africa in a thrilling final last Saturday, the team departed Barbados at around 4:30 am (Eastern Time) on Wednesday aboard the Air India Special Jet.

The flight, carrying approximately 100 individuals including players, families, support staff, officials, and media personnel, landed in New Delhi on Thursday morning after a nearly 16-hour non-stop journey.

The team faced delays in leaving Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl, which caused a near shutdown of life on the island for nearly two days.

The entire island, including the airport, was closed, with air traffic only resuming on Wednesday morning.

The Air India private jet had flown into Barbados from Newark Airport in New Jersey and touched down in Barbados around 2 am on Wednesday.

This victory marks the end of an 11-year drought for the senior men’s team in ICC trophies, with their last title being the Champions Trophy in England in 2013.

Despite several close calls in subsequent tournaments, including the Champions Trophy final in 2017, the World Test Championship finals in 2021 and 2023, and the 50-over World Cup in 2023, they had previously been unable to secure another ICC title.
