T20 World Cup 2024 : India’s fast bowling attack has helped India to win a game against Ireland on a lively New York pitch.

 Ireland scored 96 all out in 16 overs, where as India scored 97/2 in 12.2 overs.

So, finally India beat Ireland by 8 wickets.

India dominated Ireland in their opening match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, led by their pace attack, which shared nine wickets between them.

They first restricted Ireland to a meager total of 96 runs before captain Rohit Sharma’s fifty ensured a smooth chase without any hiccups.

What made the difference?

The pitch in New York once again proved to be challenging for batsmen, favoring the bowlers.

Similar conditions were witnessed in the previous game between Sri Lanka and South Africa, where Sri Lanka was bowled out for 78 runs.

Ireland faced a similar fate, struggling to cope with the seam movement and bounce on offer.

India’s decision to bolster their pace attack proved fruitful, with all bowlers delivering collectively.

Powerplay: 26/2 (4x4s)

Facing a formidable Indian seam attack on a lively pitch, Ireland’s batsmen struggled to find their footing.

Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj maintained a disciplined line and length, making scoring difficult for Ireland’s top-order.

The conditions favored the bowlers, resulting in risky shot attempts by Ireland’s batsmen.

Paul Stirling fell to a short ball from Arshdeep, while Andrew Balbirnie was bowled by a good length delivery.

Middle overs (7 to 16): 70/8 (4x4s, 3x6s)

Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah capitalized on the pitch conditions, causing further damage to Ireland’s batting lineup.

Pandya induced a big seam movement to dismiss Lorcan Tucker, while Bumrah claimed the wicket of Harry Tector with a well-directed bouncer.

The procession of wickets continued as Curtis Campher and George Dockrell were dismissed in quick succession.

Ireland’s innings ended with a run-out, highlighting the challenges posed by the tough pitch.

India’s batting also faced difficulties on the challenging pitch, with Virat Kohli departing early after attempting a big shot.

However, skipper Rohit Sharma steadied the innings with timely boundaries, despite facing a tough battle against Mark Adair.

Sharma’s aggressive approach in the powerplay kept India’s chase on track.

Rohit Sharma continued his fine form, reaching a well-deserved fifty with some impressive pull shots.

He found support in Rishabh Pant, who remained unbeaten despite facing challenges from the unpredictable bounce.

Despite a setback with Rohit’s retirement hurt due to a neck injury, India comfortably achieved the target, showcasing their resilience in adverse conditions.
