Shakib Al Hasan’s return to form with an unbeaten 64 off 46 balls and Rishad Hossain’s impressive bowling figures of 3-33 were pivotal in Bangladesh’s successful defense of a total of 159.

Additionally, Sri Lanka’s hopes for advancing to the next stage were dashed following the match.

What made the difference?

Bangladesh’s acceleration in the death overs and Rishad Hossain’s impactful bowling spell were crucial factors in their victory.

Initially struggling with 105 runs in 15 overs, Bangladesh significantly improved their scoring rate in the final overs, thanks to a steady half-century from Shakib Al Hasan and useful contributions from Mahmudullah and Jaker Ali.

Rishad’s pivotal strikes in the latter stages of the Netherlands’ innings, coupled with Mustafizur Rahman’s tight bowling, ensured Bangladesh’s victory.

In the middle overs, the Netherlands managed to make good progress, scoring 75/3.

Vikramjit Singh and Sybrand Engelbrecht’s aggressive batting pushed the scoring rate, but Rishad Hossain’s double strike in the 15th over halted their momentum.

Death overs: Rishad and Mustafizur secure victory for Bangladesh

In the death overs, Rishad Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman’s disciplined bowling restricted the Netherlands to 23/3.
