The KNCB revealed the Netherlands squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup on Monday.

Scott Edwards will resume his role as captain, guiding a team that closely resembles the one from last year’s 50-over World Cup.

A similar lineup is anticipated for the upcoming T20 Tri-series against Scotland and Ireland, pending confirmation of player availability.

Notably absent is Durham’s Colin Ackermann, prioritizing his commitments in the T20 Blast for his new county.

Similarly, veteran left-arm spinner Roelof van der Merwe will stay with Somerset, although the Dutch team still boasts talented southpaw finger spinners.

Tim Pringle, son of former New Zealand international Chris Pringle and a Dutch club cricket stalwart, makes a return after missing the last World Cup due to injury.

Also returning after a long absence is left-arm spinner Daniel Doram, who last represented the Dutch team as a teenager over a decade ago.

Aryan Dutt continues as the frontline right-arm finger-spinner, while the absence of a full-time wrist-spin option leaves out legspinner Saqib Zulfiqar and googly specialist Shariz Ahmad.

Despite recent batting struggles, established opener Max O’Dowd retains his spot, offering a part-time leg-spin option.

Youngsters Vikram Singh and Michael Levitt provide additional top-order choices.

Sybrand Engelbrecht and Teja Nidamanuru contribute off-spin alongside their primary batting roles, while veteran Wesley Barresi offers versatility as a batter and occasional wicketkeeper.

All-rounders Bas de Leede and Logan van Beek bolster the batting lineup, while competition for seam bowling slots remains intense.

Despite an impressive showing in the KNCB Pro-Series, Kyle Klein misses out on the squad.

Fred Klaassen represents the lone left-arm seamer, with Vivian Kingma and Paul van Meekeren rounding out the seam attack.

The Netherlands will host four T20Is against Ireland and Scotland in the Nordek T20 Tri-series starting May 18th, with squad availability pending confirmation.

Following this, the team will travel to the USA for two official warm-up matches against Sri Lanka, followed by their first group match against Nepal on June 4th.

Head coach Ryan Cook expressed confidence in the team’s balance and ability to perform in varying conditions against formidable opponents.

He highlighted the players’ strong performances in recent ProSeries matches as evidence of the growing depth and quality in Dutch cricket, emphasizing the team’s determination to meet the challenges ahead and advance to the next round of the tournament.
