Aliss Islam is sidelined from the Sri Lanka T20Is due to a finger injury

The 27-year-old incurred a finger injury during a diving incident in a match against Sylhet Sixers in the BPL.

Uncapped spinner Aliss Islam, who garnered attention for his performances in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 tournament, has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka due to a finger injury.

Aliss, recognized for his mystery spin and remodeled action, caught the eye of the national selection panel during the ongoing BPL.

Despite facing setbacks, including a year-long absence due to bowling action and injury issues, the 27-year-old showcased resilience and made a notable comeback in the tournament, claiming nine wickets in eight games with an economy rate of 7.17.

However, his chance to debut in the T20Is was thwarted after sustaining a finger injury during a diving attempt in a match against Sylhet Sixers on February 19.

“His finger is fractured, and he is unlikely to feature in the T20Is against Sri Lanka,” confirmed Victorians coach Mohammad Salahuddin to Cricpulse.

While the Bangladesh T20 squad members have arrived in Sylhet for the upcoming series, players involved in the BPL final are expected to join tomorrow (March 2).

“He will need at least two weeks to recover, so he is not traveling with the team to Sylhet,” confirmed a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) source to Cricpulse.

The three-match T20I series is set to take place at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on March 4, 6, and 9, respectively.
