Sri Lanka scored 235 in 50 overs, where as Bangladesh scored 237-6 in 40.2 overs.

So, finally Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets.

Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan, drafted in as a concussion substitute for Soumya Sarkar, played a pivotal role with a composed 81-ball 84, steering Bangladesh towards a series-clinching victory in the third ODI held in Chattogram on Monday (March 19).

Sri Lanka opted to bat first on a challenging surface and were propelled by Janith Liyanage’s century, but it fell short of securing the match.

Despite a spirited fight from Sri Lanka, Rishad Hossain’s explosive 18-ball 48 ultimately sealed the deal for the home side.

In a grueling encounter marred by injuries, Bangladesh encountered numerous hurdles.

Sarkar was forced off the field after sustaining a neck injury while attempting a boundary-saving dive, leading to Tanzid’s entry as his concussion substitute.

Mustafizur Rahman, after delivering nine overs, had to be stretchered off due to severe cramps.

Additionally, substitute fielder Jaker Ali left the field on a stretcher following a collision with teammate Anamul Haque while attempting a catch, resulting in a neck injury.

On the field, Sri Lanka faced challenges of their own, starting with a rocky start as they slumped to 74 for 4 by the 18th over.

While Charith Asalanka provided support with a brisk 45-ball 37, it was Liyanage’s resilient 102-ball 101, embellished with 11 fours and 2 sixes, that anchored the innings.

However, partnerships were scarce, and despite Liyanage’s efforts, Bangladesh’s bowlers restricted Sri Lanka’s progress.

A crucial alliance between Liyanage and Maheesh Theekshana added 60 runs, guiding Sri Lanka to a total of 235 runs.

In response, Bangladesh commenced their chase strongly, led by an opening 50-run partnership between Anamul and Tanzid.

Despite a momentary setback, Bangladesh regrouped with another solid stand between Tanzid and Towhid Hridoy, contributing 49 runs.

However, Tanzid’s departure in the 26th over, caught by Asalanka off Lahiru Kumara, provided Sri Lanka a glimmer of hope.

Subsequent partnerships between Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mushfiqur Rahim, and later Rishad Hossain’s explosive innings, propelled Bangladesh towards victory.

Hossain’s onslaught, particularly against Wanindu Hasaranga, accelerated Bangladesh’s victory, as he smashed an unbeaten 48 off just 18 balls, securing the win for Bangladesh in the 41st over.
