The result concluded a clean sweep victory for the Lankans in the two-match series.

Beginning the final day at 268/7 with an improbable target of 243 more runs needed for victory, Bangladesh faced an uphill battle from the start, with the outcome almost certain.

Mehidy displayed resilience with stylish strokes, supported by Taijul Islam and Hasan Mahmud, and aimed for a potential century.

However, Kamindu Mendis and Lahiru Kumara ensured Sri Lanka’s victory in the morning session.

Sri Lanka’s dominance was established through a robust first-innings performance, amassing a substantial total of 531 on a favorable batting track.

Although no centurions emerged, six batters notched fifties, laying a strong foundation for Sri Lanka.

The contributions of Nishan Madushka, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, and Dhananjaya de Silva were pivotal, as Bangladesh’s bowlers struggled to maintain consistent pressure.

Despite Kamindu Mendis’s resilient knock of 92*, Sri Lanka’s innings faltered, leaving them short of their third consecutive century.

Bangladesh’s response began promisingly with Zakir Hasan leading the charge.

However, a stellar spell from Asitha Fernando (4-34) triggered a collapse, with the hosts losing nine wickets for just 82 runs.

Sri Lanka opted not to enforce the follow-on, choosing instead to build a formidable lead.

Bangladesh’s pace duo, Hasan Mahmud (4-65) and Khaled Mahmud (2-34), exploited the tricky pitch conditions, restricting Sri Lanka to 157-7 in their second innings.

Despite Angelo Mathews’ resilient half-century, Sri Lanka declared at 157-7, setting Bangladesh a daunting target of 511.

Bangladesh exhibited more resilience in the fourth innings but failed to capitalize on promising starts, mirroring their struggles throughout the series.

Sri Lanka’s pacers outperformed the spinners on pitches offering assistance to the seamers, ensuring a comprehensive victory for the visitors.
