So, finally Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets.

After losing the T20I series, Bangladesh made a strong start in the ODI series by comfortably winning the opening game in Chattogram.

Their comprehensive performance began with the bowlers who restricted Sri Lanka to just 255 runs, laying the groundwork for a successful chase.

Captain Najmul Hossain’s unbeaten century then ensured Bangladesh reached the target with 32 balls to spare.

Facing a relatively easier chase due to the dew, Bangladesh capitalized on the conditions, particularly with Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim’s unbeaten 165-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

This partnership was crucial as Bangladesh found themselves struggling at 23/3 earlier in the innings.

Shanto also played a key role in stabilizing the innings, first with a 59-run stand alongside Mahmudullah, who scored a brisk 37.

Later, his partnership with Rahim proved vital as Sri Lankan bowlers struggled to contain them with the dew setting in.

Before this significant partnership, Bangladesh’s pacers set the tone with early breakthroughs.

Despite Sri Lanka’s openers starting well with a 71-run stand, Tanzim Hasan Sakib’s quick double strike tilted the momentum in Bangladesh’s favor.

Although Sri Lanka managed to build partnerships, they faltered towards the end of their innings, losing wickets at regular intervals.

Shoriful Islam and Taskin Ahmed’s disciplined bowling ensured Bangladesh cleaned up the lower order efficiently, restricting Sri Lanka to a manageable total.

The chase became even more manageable as conditions favored the batsmen, ultimately leading Bangladesh to a comfortable victory in the opening ODI.
