So, finally West Indies beat South Africa by 16 runs.

In the second T20I at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica, South Africa displayed an improved batting performance but fell short of West Indies’ imposing total of 207/7, allowing the hosts to secure an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Roston Chase led the charge with an unbeaten 67 off 38 balls, supported by other batters as West Indies opted to bat first and posted a challenging total.

Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks provided a fiery start in the chase, smashing seven sixes and six fours in the first five overs to propel South Africa past 80.

However, de Kock’s aggressive innings ended on 41 off 17 balls when he was bowled by Akeal Hosein, followed by Hendricks (34 off 18) falling to Chase, leaving South Africa at 85/2 at the end of the powerplay.

Despite contributions from Matthew Breetzke and Ryan Rickelton, regular wickets hindered South Africa’s progress, with Gudakesh Motie, Romario Shepherd, and Chase restricting them to 191/7.

In the West Indies innings, Johnson Charles departed early, but a solid powerplay saw them reach 51/1.

Brandon King continued his good form with a rapid 36 before debutant Nqaba Peter dismissed him.

Kyle Mayers then took charge, hitting sixes at regular intervals, but Peter claimed his wicket as well, ending his cameo at 32 off 16 balls.

Andre Fletcher and Chase built a brisk 56-run partnership, followed by a rapid 63-run stand between Chase and Shepherd, propelling West Indies beyond 200 in the 19th over.

Despite losing wickets towards the end, West Indies posted a formidable total, ultimately securing victory due to their strong bowling comeback.
