India has shattered South Africa’s resolve to win the one-off Test

India secured their 8th Test victory.

India scored 603/6 decl. (1st Innings) & 37/0 (2nd Innings), where as South Africa scored 266 (1st Innings) & 373 (2nd Innings)

So, finally India beat South Africa by 10 wickets.

Early in the final session on the last day, India dismantled South Africa’s resistance to clinch a resounding 10-wicket victory in the one-off Test in Chennai.

Nadine de Klerk’s determined effort kept the visitors fighting, but India maintained pressure throughout.

They claimed three wickets in each of the first two sessions, with Sneh Rana joining rare company by taking 10 or more wickets in a single game for India.

De Klerk’s resilient 61 off 185 balls delayed the inevitable, but couldn’t prevent India from sealing the win.

South Africa, asked to follow-on, faced an uphill battle after Sune Luus’s century set the tone on Day 3.

Laura Wolvaardt notched her maiden Test hundred early on Day 4, partnering with Marizanne Kapp before Deepti Sharma dismissed Kapp leg before wicket.

A quick wicket of Delmi Tucker followed, caught by Jemimah Rodrigues off Rana.

Despite Wolvaardt’s partnership with de Klerk, South Africa lost crucial wickets in the morning session, adding 70 runs but losing three batsmen.

After Sinalo Jafta retired hurt, de Klerk dug in, scoring 34 runs in 29 overs during the second session as India persisted.

Pooja Vastrakar broke through, dismissing Annerie Dercksen, and a run-out further dented South Africa’s efforts.

Rana claimed Jafta’s wicket just before Tea with a catch by Shubha Satheesh.

The partnership between de Klerk and Masabata Klaas lasted until Shafali Verma bowled Klaas.

De Klerk battled on, reaching a fifty before falling to Rajeshwari Gayakwad, ending South Africa’s resistance.

After being bowled out in 84.3 overs in the first innings, South Africa’s second innings lasted 154.4 overs, but India chased down the target of 34 runs in 9.2 overs for a comprehensive victory.
