Rahul Dravid confirmed during a press conference ahead of India’s first game against Ireland in New York that the ongoing ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup will be his final tournament as head coach of the Indian team.

He stated that he will not reapply for the position advertised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) last month due to his current schedule and personal circumstances.

Despite this being his last tournament in charge, Dravid emphasized that the significance of the event remains unchanged for him.

When asked if he considered the ongoing World Cup as ‘extra special’ given it would be his final tournament with the team, Dravid expressed his love for coaching India and working with the players.

He described coaching the Indian team as a truly special experience and expressed his enjoyment of working with the team, stating that it has been a great group to work with.
