Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer has helped England team to take series lead at Edgbaston in the 2nd T20

Jofra Archer claimed figures of 2 for 28 in his first appearance for England since March 2023.

England scored 183/7 in 20 overs, where as Pakistan scored 160 all out in 19.2 overs.

So, finally England beat Pakistan by 23 runs.

England’s 1-0 lead in the four-match T20I series against Pakistan was secured through a comprehensive bowling display, complementing Jos Buttler’s commanding 84.

In Birmingham, after a washout in Leeds earlier in the week, Buttler’s captaincy shone as he anchored England to 183/6, a total that initially seemed insufficient before England’s bowlers took center stage.

Pakistan’s chase stumbled from the outset, and despite a promising half-century partnership between Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam, they fell short, dismissed for 160 in 19.2 overs.

England’s innings saw a strong start with the openers aggressively confronting Shaheen Afridi, prompting his early removal from the attack after conceding three boundaries.

However, Imad made an immediate impact, claiming the wicket of Phil Salt with his first delivery.

Buttler and Will Jacks then constructed a crucial 71-run partnership, with Jacks accelerating during the penultimate powerplay over, extracting 17 runs off Haris Rauf.

Buttler, after reaching his half-century, maintained momentum with occasional sixes, while Jonny Bairstow contributed a brisk 21.

However, a flurry of wickets slowed England’s progress, with Shaheen Afridi’s late burst denting their final total.

In response, Pakistan’s top order faltered, losing key wickets early on to England’s spinners.

Although Fakhar Zaman counter-attacked aggressively, his efforts were not enough to salvage the innings.

Contributions from Imad and Iftikhar Ahmed briefly reignited Pakistan’s hopes, but Archer’s crucial breakthroughs ensured England’s victory, leaving Pakistan short of their target with four balls to spare.
