New Zealand Cricket confirms injuries ruling Adam Milne and Finn Allen out of Pakistan tour.

New Zealand versus Pakistan T20I Series, 2024

Adam Milne and Finn Allen have been ruled out of the Pakistan tour due to injuries.

Finn Allen has been sidelined with a back injury.

Opener Finn Allen and fast bowler Adam Milne have both been sidelined from the upcoming tour of Pakistan, as confirmed by New Zealand Cricket on Friday (April 12).

Allen sustained a back injury, while Milne hurt his ankle during pre-departure training.

“Their injuries will prevent their participation in any of the five matches scheduled to commence next week in Rawalpindi,” NZC stated.

“Further updates regarding their return to cricket will be provided in the forthcoming weeks.”

To fill the void, New Zealand has called up wicketkeeper Tom Blundell and uncapped all-rounder Zak Foulkes as replacements.

The team had already assembled a secondary squad for the series, as many key players are currently engaged in the Indian Premier League.

Blundell’s last T20I appearance for New Zealand was over two years ago, whereas Foulkes receives his first international call-up.

“Tom brings not only his expertise in wicketkeeping and batting but also serves as a leader within any squad he joins,” remarked Head Coach Gary Stead.

“His recent exposure to Pakistani conditions, having been part of both tours last year, adds valuable experience.

Zak has showcased his talent with an outstanding season for Canterbury, emerging as their top wicket-taker across all formats.

His prowess with the ball, especially in T20 cricket for the Kings, has been impressive.

Additionally, we’re aware of his batting skills, and this presents an excellent opportunity for him to integrate into the team.”

The series, marking the return of all-rounder Michael Bracewell, commences on April 18, with the fifth and final T20I scheduled for April 27.
