New Zealand holds their nerve to secure an unassailable 2-1 lead against Pakistan in a five-match T20I Series

Will O’Rourke claimed figures of 3-27 in New Zealand’s triumphant defense.

New Zealand scored 178/7 in 20 Overs, where as Pakistan scored 174/8 in 20 Overs.

So, finally New Zealand beat Pakistan by 4 runs.

In a nail-biter at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, New Zealand displayed nerves of steel as they edged past hosts Pakistan by a mere four runs in the fourth game of the five-match T20I series, securing an unassailable 2-1 lead.

New Zealand got off to a solid start, posting a commendable total of 178 after being put in to bat.

The foundation was laid by a strong opening partnership, with Tom Blundell providing early momentum with a brisk 15-ball 28, ably supported by Tim Robinson.

Despite Zaman Khan breaking the opening stand by dismissing Blundell, Robinson found an aggressive ally in Dean Foxcroft.

Foxcroft’s onslaught, including three sixes, propelled the innings forward, with Michael Bracewell’s contribution pushing the total to a competitive 178.

In response, Pakistan stumbled early, losing three wickets in the powerplay, including skipper Babar Azam for just 1, to William ORourke’s incisive bowling.

However, Fakhar Zaman’s resilient 61 off 45 balls steadied the ship, setting the stage for a thrilling finish.

Despite a late flurry of wickets, including Zaman and Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim’s heroics kept Pakistan’s hopes alive.

With 28 runs required from the last two overs, Wasim’s calculated aggression kept the pressure on.

Although James Neesham managed to restrict the boundaries, a tense final over ensued.

Usama Mir struck a boundary off the first ball, but Neesham responded with a crucial wicket.

With 5 runs needed off the final delivery, Neesham maintained a disciplined line, conceding only a single to seal a breathtaking victory for New Zealand and ensuring they couldn’t lose the series.
