BCCI Secretary Jay Shah discussing plans for a new coach and other developments in cricket.

Jay Shah has revealed that the BCCI will soon release an advertisement for a new coach.

Jay Shah stated that Rahul Dravid’s tenure concludes in June and added that he is welcome to reapply for the position if he desires.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced in Mumbai on Wednesday that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will soon initiate the process of advertising for a new coach.

Regarding Rahul Dravid’s tenure, Shah mentioned, “Rahul’s tenure is only up to June.

So if he wants to apply, he is free to do so.”

Shah also indicated that decisions regarding other coaching staff positions, such as batting, bowling, and fielding coaches, will be made after consulting with the new head coach.

He left open the possibility of appointing a foreign coach, stating, “We cannot determine whether the new coach will be Indian or foreign.

It will be up to the CAC, and we are a global body.”

On the subject of the Impact Player rule in the IPL, Shah expressed that its continuation will be determined after discussions with captains and coaches, emphasizing its significance in providing opportunities for emerging Indian players.

He clarified that no decisions have been made regarding the revival of the Champions League Twenty20 tournament, contrary to recent claims.

Regarding his speculated candidacy for the ICC chairmanship in November, Shah remained ambiguous but mentioned that discussions will take place regarding the possibility of hosting the World Test Championship (WTC) final outside of England.

Shah highlighted the importance of red-ball cricket and mentioned plans to increase the remuneration for domestic players, a decision that will be left to the respective state associations.

He also confirmed that Hardik Pandya, who received an A grade in Central Contracts, has agreed to participate in white-ball domestic cricket.

Additionally, Shah revealed that the structure of domestic cricket will be unveiled soon, and the High-Performance Centre at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru is scheduled to become operational from August.
