India pacer Shardul Thakur has undergone foot surgery, as he revealed on his social media handle on Wednesday (June 12).

Thakur posted a picture with his right leg in a cast following the procedure.

The surgery, performed in London, was necessary after Thakur managed his painful ankle through the IPL with the help of injections.

The procedure was carried out by the same physician who had previously operated on Mohammed Shami.

As a centrally contracted BCCI player, all expenses for Thakur’s surgery are covered by the board.

Although Thakur is not part of the current Indian squad, he played for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.

With the Indian domestic season set to begin in three months, this could mark his return to cricket.

Thakur had previously undergone surgery in 2019.

He last represented India in a Test match in South Africa at the end of last year.

His recovery time from this surgery is expected to be about eight weeks.
