India Women beat Bangladesh Women by 44 runs.
Led by a clinical all-round performance, India cruised to a commanding 44-run victory in the first T20I at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, setting the tone for their tour of Bangladesh.
Opting to bat first, the visitors posted a competitive total of 145 for 7.
Shafali Verma and Yastika Bhatia provided a solid start with a 43-run partnership in 33 balls, stabilizing the innings after the early dismissal of Smriti Mandhana.
Shafali’s aggressive 31 set the tempo, while Yastika, along with Harmanpreet Kaur, contributed with a 45-run stand for the third wicket.
Despite the platform set, India couldn’t accelerate in the death overs.
Marufa Akter continued her impressive bowling form, claiming 2 for 13 in three overs, supported by Rabeya Khan’s three wickets.
However, Bangladesh struggled with the bat, failing to mount a significant challenge.
Despite early breakthroughs from Renuka Singh, Bangladesh faltered, with Nigar Sultana’s resilient 51 off 48 balls being the only notable contribution.
Bangladesh’s batting lacked support, ultimately leading to their downfall.
