India men’s head coach Rahul Dravid has urged for a comprehensive review of the country’s extensive domestic cricket season.

India men’s head coach Rahul Dravid has called for an “all-round review” of the country’s extensive domestic season, a concern recently echoed by players such as R Sai Kishore and Shardul Thakur.

After the Ranji Trophy semi-final in Mumbai, Thakur highlighted the challenges faced by players, emphasizing the difficulty of playing 10 consecutive games with minimal breaks.

Sai Kishore, the captain of Tamil Nadu, also raised concerns about the impact of shorter gaps between matches, particularly on fast bowlers.

Dravid, speaking after India’s 4-1 series win over England in Dharamsala, supported the players’ sentiments, emphasizing the importance of listening to their experiences.

“I’ve heard similar concerns, including comments made by Shardul,” Dravid stated.

“It’s crucial to listen to the players who endure the demanding schedule.”

Acknowledging the grueling nature of the season for domestic players, Dravid advocated for a reassessment of the necessity of certain tournaments in the current landscape.

“The domestic season in India is already arduous,” Dravid remarked.

“Adding tournaments like Duleep and Deodhar on top of the Ranji Trophy can be taxing.

We need to consider whether these tournaments are still relevant in today’s context.”

Dravid stressed the need for a comprehensive review involving coaches and players to address the challenges faced by those involved in the domestic circuit.
