England versus India Test Series, 2024

5th Test

Day-3 Morning Session Highlights:

In the second innings R. Ashwin helped the Indian team to push the England team to the another defeat

Stokes falls early yet again, departing cheaply.

England scored 218/10 (1st Innings) and 103/5 (2nd Innings), where as India scored 477/10 (1st Innings) at the lunch of Day-3:

R Ashwin (4-55) orchestrated England’s downfall in the morning session of day three of the fifth Test against India in Dharamsala.

Opening the attack alongside Jasprit Bumrah, the off-spinner outwitted England’s batsmen with his crafty bowling, exploiting moments of indecision.

Despite Jonny Bairstow’s entertaining cameo of 39 off 31 balls, which included three sixes off Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav’s entry into the attack saw a swift end to the spectacle with a vicious leg break.

As left-hander Ben Stokes took to the crease, Ashwin was reintroduced, and promptly dismissed the England skipper just before lunch, exacerbating England’s troubles.

The visitors’ innings stumbled from the outset, as Ben Duckett’s aggressive approach against Ashwin resulted in his dismissal, while Zak Crawley’s innings was cut short by a sharp off break.

Ollie Pope’s attempt at a sweep shot only led to his downfall, further highlighting England’s confused mindset at the crease.

Amidst the chaos, Joe Root stood firm, employing footwork and soft hands to negotiate the spinners.

Bairstow’s assault momentarily kept India and Ashwin at bay, but the storm was quelled soon after.

England found a glimmer of hope when James Anderson claimed his 700th Test wicket by dismissing Kuldeep, thus becoming the first fast bowler to achieve this milestone.
