India A and Australia A are set to participate in a pair of four-day matches later this year, preceding the Border-Gavaskar Test series.

Cricket Australia has confirmed that both games will be granted first-class status.

The series serves as ideal preparation for the home side ahead of the marquee five-match series against India.

Australia aims to reverse their fortunes after losing the last two home series to India.

With the dates clashing, some of Australia’s Test regulars might feature in this series by opting out of the Pakistan ODIs and T20Is.

Similarly, India’s Test squad players may also participate.

The first game will take place from October 31 to November 3 at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay.

Subsequently, the teams will move to the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground for the second match, which will also host the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar series.

Following the ‘A’ series, India’s senior team will engage in an Intra Squad match against the same India A squad.

The match is scheduled at the WACA in Perth from November 15-17.

“Hosting these A matches at the upgraded Great Barrier Reef Arena and the MCG gives significant status to these encounters and offers players from both sides an excellent opportunity to stake their claim for selection,” remarked Peter Roach, CA Head of Cricket Operations and Scheduling.
