Bangladesh pace bowler Ebadot Hossain has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in the USA and the West Indies starting June this year.

He won’t be able to regain fitness in time for the global event, confirmed Bangladesh Cricket Board’s chief physician Debashish Chowdhury to Cricpulse on Wednesday (April 10).

This confirmation came despite Ebadot expressing his eagerness to return for the prestigious tournament.

Ebadot’s desire to participate stemmed from his confidence in his rehabilitation journey following his surgery for an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained during Bangladesh’s home series against Afghanistan in July 2023.

However, despite his optimism and diligent efforts, Ebadot’s comeback before the T20 World Cup seems unfeasible.

Debashish stated firmly that Ebadot wouldn’t be fit in time for the World T20, citing the typical recovery period of eight to 12 months for such injuries.

Although Ebadot underwent surgery in August the previous year, his return isn’t expected until at least October, making him unavailable for the T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, there’s hope for the injured duo of Soumya Sarkar and Taijul Islam to recover before the home series against Zimbabwe in May.

Both players sustained knee injuries, with Soumya injuring his ligament during a collision with an advertising board in a match against Sri Lanka, and Taijul hurting his knee while fielding during the opening Test against the same opponents.

Rehabilitation efforts are underway for both players, with the team management optimistic about their return, though the exact timeframe remains uncertain.
