Heinrich Malan, the current head coach of Ireland, is among the four candidates shortlisted by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for the vacant High Performance Unit’s head coach position.

This role became available after David Hemp transitioned to the national men’s senior team set-up as batting coach, as announced by BCB on February 27.

With the HP program scheduled to commence in mid-May, BCB is actively seeking a replacement for Hemp.

When approached by Cricpulse on Wednesday, Malan didn’t dismiss the possibility of embracing this new challenge.

“We will conduct interviews for the shortlisted coaches for the HP unit head position in the upcoming week,” revealed BCB HP Unit chairman Naimur Rahman.

BCB faces an interesting decision regarding Malan’s candidacy, considering his potential unavailability from the start of the HP camp due to his expected involvement in guiding the Ireland national cricket team in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, scheduled in the USA and West Indies from June.

In addition to Malan, BCB is also evaluating three other candidates: Gavan Twining (Australia), Nathan Hauritz (Australia), and Paul Adams (South Africa).

Heinrich Malan is a respected figure in the cricketing world, known for his coaching prowess and leadership skills.

With a background rooted in cricket, Malan has garnered extensive experience both as a player and a coach, shaping the trajectory of teams under his guidance.

As the head coach of the Ireland national cricket team, he has played a pivotal role in their development and success on the international stage.

His ability to foster a positive team culture and extract the best from each player has earned him accolades within the cricketing community.

His track record of success speaks volumes about his commitment to excellence and his capacity to inspire his players to achieve their full potential.
