ENGLAND 120/5 BEFORE TEA:
R Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav troubled England in the second innings as the Ranchi Test teetered on the edge.
After a resilient batting display in the morning session, the duo seized control post-lunch, claiming five crucial wickets while extending England’s lead to 166 runs.
India initiated the second innings with spin from both ends.
Ben Duckett effectively employed the sweep against Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, securing a boundary each initially.
However, it was Ashwin who ultimately had the last laugh.
Duckett’s forward defense against a flighted delivery resulted in a catch at short leg.
England suffered another setback immediately when Ollie Pope misjudged Ashwin’s delivery and was trapped leg-before-wicket, with the review confirming the decision.
The responsibility then fell on Joe Root and Crawley to revive the faltering innings.
Crawley aggressively took on Ashwin, hitting three fours in an over before falling to him.
Ashwin continued to trouble England, dismissing Root with a delivery that straightened enough to hit the leg stump.
The loss of regular wickets forced Crawley and Jonny Bairstow to increase the scoring rate.
While Crawley reached his fifty, Kuldeep dismissed him for 60.
Just before Tea, Kuldeep struck again, removing the England skipper Ben Stokes, further unsettling the visitors.
