INDIA 307/10 BEFORE LUNCH:

A valiant 90 from Dhruv Jurel and a composed 28 from Kuldeep Yadav propelled India’s resurgence in the fourth Test in Ranchi, thwarting England’s bid for a substantial first-innings lead.

Initially, it seemed Bashir’s efforts on the second day would tilt momentum in England’s favor.

The off-spinner clinched a five-wicket haul on the third morning, yet India managed to reverse their fortunes.

Both Kuldeep and Jurel adopted a cautious approach initially, seemingly content to occupy the crease.

The day’s first boundary came only after England took the new ball, with Jurel elegantly driving one down the ground off Ollie Robinson.

In the following over, Kuldeep confidently dispatched Shoaib Bashir to the boundary, frustrating the England camp.

The resilient partnership was eventually broken when James Anderson dismissed Kuldeep, causing a mix of disappointment and relief.

Jurel soon reached his maiden Test fifty and then took calculated risks with Akash Deep at the other end.

Although England readily conceded singles to Jurel, he skillfully retained strike, capitalizing on a missed opportunity by the midwicket fielder to smash Bashir for consecutive boundaries and a six, propelling into the 80s.

Akash, providing solid support until then, surprised England with aggressive strokes, but fell victim to Bashir’s trap, departing lbw.

With the pressure mounting, Jurel continued to attack but fell agonizingly short at 90, deceived by a sharply turning delivery from Tom Hartley that crashed into his stumps, ending India’s resistance.
