Tests against England are scheduled to be held in Christchurch and Wellington as well as Hamilton.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has unveiled the comprehensive itinerary for the three-match Test series against England, marking the commencement of the Black Caps’ home summer later this year.
The series opener is scheduled to commence on November 28 at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, followed by the second Test at the iconic Basin Reserve in Wellington starting from December 6.
The series finale will take place at Seddon Park in Hamilton from December 14.
In addition to the Tests against England, New Zealand is set to host Sri Lanka and Pakistan later in the summer in men’s cricket, while the White Ferns will be hosting Australia and Sri Lanka in women’s cricket.
The recent Test series at home against Australia garnered significant attention, and NZC chief executive Scott Weenink expressed his excitement about the upcoming series, aiming to build on the momentum.
“In the past, there’s often been a lot of talk in New Zealand about the popularity of Test cricket – without that translating into ticket sales or viewership numbers,” remarked Weenink.
“The difference over the past summer, and in terms of the upcoming Tests against England, is that the interest is being converted to bums on seats and is driving record viewership numbers.
“We’re looking forward to that continuing over the upcoming summer, and to welcoming the England team and their fans to the Tests, and of course all the Kiwi-based supporters as well.”
