Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja spearhead India’s resurgence

Rohit and Jadeja crafted India’s inaugural century partnership of the series.

India endured a rocky start after opting to bat in the third Test at Rajkot, but skipper Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja orchestrated a remarkable recovery, stitching together an unbroken partnership that spanned 260 balls.

This partnership, which included the entirety of the second session, helped stabilize India’s innings after they had slumped to 33/3.

Despite winning the toss on a flat pitch, India faltered early on as Mark Wood struck twice to dismiss Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill in quick succession.

The situation worsened when Rajat Patidar fell to Tom Hartley’s spin in his very first over.

At 33/3, India faced the prospect of further collapse, but Rohit Sharma displayed composure and began to assert himself after settling in.

While he rode his luck on a couple of occasions, surviving a close LBW call and a sharp chance at slip, Rohit gradually grew in confidence, playing some calculated strokes to bring up his 17th Test half-century.

The introduction of Ravindra Jadeja at No. 5 proved to be a masterstroke, as the left-right batting combination of Rohit and Jadeja thwarted England’s bowlers.

Their partnership of 152 runs after Lunch not only steadied the ship but also helped India regain momentum.

Despite England’s efforts with reverse swing and spin, Rohit and Jadeja remained resolute, capitalizing on loose deliveries and gradually finding their rhythm.

By Tea, Rohit was unbeaten on 97 while Jadeja had compiled a solid 68, as India managed to even the proceedings after a challenging morning session.
