Bangladesh Cricket Board TV set to launch after amendments to constitution clauses.

Bangladesh Cricket Board TV is set to launch the following amendments to board’s constitution clauses

The launch of BCB TV facilitated by Bangladesh Cricket Board’s amendments to two constitution clauses

The Bangladesh Cricket Board made amendments to two clauses in their constitution on Sunday (March 31) to pave the way for the launch of BCB TV.

These amendments, proposed during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2024 held at a city hotel, were unanimously passed by the board’s councillors in attendance.

The constitutional changes were initiated to enable the board to pursue risk-free and profitable investment arrangements, utilizing funds collected from various sources including government, sponsors, and national and international entities, to support cricket development activities.

Additionally, these amendments facilitated the creation of BCB TV, aimed at promoting domestic cricket and broadcasting international matches that may not attract mainstream broadcasters.

BCB’s chief executive, Nizamuddin Chowdhury, explained the rationale behind BCB TV, emphasizing the desire to enhance the commercial value of domestic cricket, such as the Dhaka Premier League, and ensure coverage of matches abroad that may not receive broadcasting attention.

He emphasized the board’s intention to complement existing broadcasting partners rather than compete with them.

President Nazmul Hasan outlined plans to financially support six regional bodies to manage their respective cricket associations, initially through funding T20 tournaments as a test case for their governance.

However, central oversight will remain until the board is confident in the regional associations’ ability to operate independently.

This approach aims for gradual transition towards independence rather than immediate decentralization.
