The Bangladesh Cricket Board stated on Friday that they have not yet made a final decision regarding the white-ball series against Afghanistan in July.

Earlier, the BCB had announced the rescheduling of their all-format away series against Afghanistan, which was initially set to include two Tests along with three ODIs and three T20Is following the ICC T20 World Cup.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board subsequently proposed a revised itinerary to the BCB, outlining plans for three ODIs and three T20Is scheduled to take place in Greater Noida between July 25 and August 6, as per a draft itinerary seen by Cricpulse.

Both boards are reportedly discussing the possibility of scheduling the two Tests for 2025, considering Bangladesh’s busy red-ball schedule in 2024.

After the T20 World Cup, Bangladesh is set to tour Pakistan for a two-match Test series, followed by a series in India comprising two Tests and three T20Is.

In October, they will host South Africa for a two-match Test series, followed by a tour to the West Indies in November-December for two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is.

Despite the available slot in July for the ODIs and T20Is against Afghanistan, sources indicate that a final decision will be made after consulting with the team management, as the board aims to avoid overburdening their players with excessive cricket.

“We have discussed the possibility of playing three ODIs and three T20Is against Afghanistan in Noida in July, but no final decision has been taken yet,” remarked BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury to Cricpulse on Friday.

“This series was earlier part of the FTP but we have not finalized anything regarding playing them in July,” he added.

Jalal Yunus, BCB cricket operation chairman, echoed similar sentiments, stating, “We have not confirmed the series for July.

The weather during that time is not suitable for cricket.”

According to the current schedule, Bangladesh is slated to arrive in Noida on July 22, with the three ODIs scheduled for July 25, 27, and 30, followed by the three T20Is on August 2, 4, and 6.
